The coverage greatly depends upon the smoothness of the surface you will be applying the wall epoxy to. One 3 quart kit will cover 50-100 sq feet. 

Step 1: Preparation & Cleaning

Before you start, make sure that both the epoxy, substrate and ambient air temperature are between 70 - 75 degrees Fahrenheit (21 - 24 Celsius). Clean wall surface. Patch any major holes in the wall with regular joint compound or 20-minute setting joint compound.

If going over bath or shower tile, first remove soap film. You can use an ordinary tile cleaner, acetone or isopropyl. 


Mask off top of baseboard, windows/window trim, door trim, cabinets, ceiling, bathtub, and adjacent walls that you do not wish to coat. Mask the floor with plastic out at least 24-36” from the wall in case of drips. 


If wall is textured, sand with vacuum sander until smooth, then clean sanding dust. Using a vacuum sander will prevent a lot of dust, but is not perfect, so you may want to do additional masking with plastic to prevent dust from settling in the rest of your home. 


You may mix the entire bucket at a time, or mix smaller amounts as desired by carefully measuring the components in measured containers. Pour desired amount of product in mixing bucket and add metallic powder for base color. Mix for 2-3 minutes using a drill until product is smooth and not clumpy. Make sure to scrape the edges while mixing to avoid sticky spots. (If you are going over tile do not add the color and instead apply the clear epoxy and save the color for the second coat.


Wall epoxy is applied differently than countertop or floor epoxy in that countertops and floors start with a thin skim coat and end up with a heavy flood coat. Because of its thickness, wall epoxy is applied with a heavy base coat to fill in irregularities and a thin final coat.

Begin your first coat by troweling the mixed product out onto wall, starting at the bottom and working up the wall. You can apply as thick or thin as you like, however, if you apply too thin, it will be more transparent and the wall behind your epoxy will show through. If you want to add texture, experiment using a v-notched trowel of different depths.


Mix metallic powder with 91% isopropyl in a spray bottle for accent colors. Spray onto the wall, immediately coming behind with the trowel to spread color. Go heavier on metallic powder than you would with countertops or floors, so more color comes out than alcohol when spraying on wall. When finished, spray clear alcohol to help smooth and blend colors, then let cure for 4-6 hours before resurfacing with another coat. It is important to pull the tape while the product is still wet for the best line definition.


If the finish is not smooth enough to your liking, trowel a second clear coat over your first coat following steps 3 - 5. If color is not to your liking add contrasting color to the epoxy when mixing and spray more accent colors as in step 6.  


With wall epoxy you don’t have to worry about drips as you do on countertops. Once the epoxy is completely cured, you can remove masking and be finished. There is no need to wait 36 hours to use your walls. However, for shower installations, we would recommend waiting 48 hours before utilizing the shower.


Wait at least 36 hours before using your project, and longer before placing heavy objects on surface.

NOTE: All of our products have been specially engineered for compatibility. Use of other epoxy resins and colorants may affect UV resistance and curing. Do not try to cut corners by mixing a cheaper epoxy or using other colorants with our epoxy. If you choose to ignore this advice, do so at your own risk!
